Prince Edward Island has issued 56 invitations to skilled worker candidates in the latest provincial draw held on August 22. The draw, part of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP), focused on candidates within the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams.
This draw specifically targeted professionals in the healthcare and construction sectors, areas identified as having significant labor shortages. It also considered candidates with expiring Work Permits in the Tourism, Agriculture, Fisheries, Trucking, and Transport sectors. These groups were prioritized to address immediate labor needs in key industries, ensuring a seamless transition into the workforce and contributing to Prince Edward Island’s economic stability.
The PEI Express Entry Category includes candidates already in the federal Express Entry Pool. A provincial nomination from PEI adds 600 points to a candidate’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, significantly boosting their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian immigration.
The PEI Express Entry Category offers two pathways to permanent residence, one for candidates with a job offer and another for those without.
In addition to the Express Entry stream, the Labour Impact Category offers pathways through its Skilled Worker and Critical Worker Streams. The Skilled Worker Stream requires candidates to have a full-time job offer in a TEER category 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation and meet specific educational and work experience criteria.
The Critical Worker Stream is designed for foreign workers already employed in PEI in high-demand roles such as truck driving, customer service, and food service. Both streams require candidates to demonstrate a genuine intention to settle in Prince Edward Island.
PEI’s targeted approach ensures that selected candidates can meet the province’s labor demands while contributing to its economic growth.
