The number of immigrants to Nova Scotia is steadily climbing up, and approximately 7000 immigrants may qualify every year. Most immigrants to Nova Scotia leverage Atlantic Immigration Pilot or Provincial Nomination to obtain permanent residence in Nova Scotia. The following NSPNP options are available for consideration by immigrants:

Nova Scotia Demand Express Entry

The Nova Scotia province operates this stream to attract foreign nationals and fill the gaps in the labor market. The stream allows applicants with experience or job offers to become permanent residents and integrate with the labor market in Nova Scotia.

Nova Scotia Experience Express Entry 

Nova Scotia Experience aligns with the IRCC’s Express Entry System and offers a boost of 600 points to eligible applicants. The provincial nomination can ensure an Invitation to Apply with these points and help the applicant become a permanent resident. The main eligibility criteria are:

  • Language proficiency,
  • High-school-level education,
  • Relevant work experience
  • Inclusion in the federal express entry pool

Entrepreneur Stream

Entrepreneurs with business experience can leverage the Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Stream to settle in the province of Nova Scotia. The applicant should be more than 21 years of age with experience in running a successful business in Nova Scotia for a minimum of three years. Submission of Expression of Interest will qualify the eligible applicant to receive an Invitation to Apply.

Occupations in Demand Stream 

The unique stream of Occupations in Demand caters to the applicants working in the eligible occupations. These are:

  • Transport truck drivers- NOC 7511
  • Nurses and patient service associates – NOC 3413
  • Heavy equipment operators NOC 7521
  • Construction laborers and helpers – NOC 7611

The eligible occupations will change as the stream is a three-year pilot program. The focused occupations will change in response to the labor requirements of Nova Scotia.

Nova Scotia Labor Market priorities 

Candidates with Express Entry Profile and experience in working for significantly high-demand positions are eligible for this stream. Nova Scotia is currently accepting applications from a candidate with experience in the Early Childhood Educators and assistants. The occupations may change as per the province’s priorities.

International Graduates in Demand Stream 

It is a new stream of the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program. The stream targets fresh graduates with an education in relevant qualifications. The program covers the following categories of occupations:

  • Nurses aides- NOC 3413
  • Early childhood educators and assistants – 4214

International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream

International graduates from Nova Scotia college or university who are operating their own business are eligible to apply for provincial nomination to become permanent residents in Nova Scotia. The applicants must have a strong inclination to settle in the province.

Nova Scotia Physicians 

Physicians with a valid job offer from a Nova Scotia employer can apply for Provincial Nomination. Successful candidates can then become eligible for permanent residence in the province. They process the applications for the physicians’ stream on priority.
