  1. a) Education – Following are the details of points for relevant educational credentials (a maximum of 25 points):
    • 25 points – Ph. D. or Master’s degree and a minimum of 17 years of full-time study
    • 22 points – A minimum of two university degrees and 15 years of full-time study
    • 22 points – Trade or apprenticeship, three-year diploma, and 15 years of full-time study
    • 20 points – A minimum of two years’ university degree and 14 years of full-time study
    • 15 points – Bachelor level one year university degree and 13 years of full-time study
    • 15 points – Trade apprenticeship, a one-year diploma, and 13 years of full-time study
    • 12 points – Trade apprenticeship, a one-year diploma, and 12 years of full-time study
    • 5 points – High-school level education
  2. b) Experience – Following are the details of points allocated to the number of years of relevant experience (a maximum of 35 points):
    • 35 points – Five years
    • 30 points – Four years
    • 25 points – Three years
    • 20 points – Two years
  3. c) Age – Applicants with ages between 21 years and 49 years can get a maximum of 10 points. There will be fewer points for ages below 21 years and above 49 years
  4. d) Language ability – You can earn a maximum of 24 points under language abilities to speak, listen, read, and write in English and French. You will have to score maximum points for primary and secondary languages.
  5. e)Adaptability -One should consider the following factors for the assessment of adaptability (a maximum of 6 points):
    • Maximum 5 points for the education level of a spouse or common-law partner
    • Maximum 5 points for the Canadian work experience of self or spouse
    • Maximum 5 points for study in Canada
    • Maximum 5 points for having relatives in Canada

    The minimum qualifying score of 35 points by considering all factors is necessary. The applicant must consider the following aspects to arrive at the final assessment:

    • Points score of each category
    • Documents to demonstrate qualifications
    • Ability to achieve self-employed business person’s standards in Canada
