Super Visa

Super Visa

The Super Visa program enables parents and grandparents to stay with their families in Canada for a minimum of two years. It is one of the valuable immigration programs, instrumental in bringing families together to strengthen relationships and family ties. Any reputable immigration consultant can help you with the application process of the Super Visa program.

You can easily qualify for the Super Visa Program if you are a parent or grandparent whose child or grandchild is living in Canada with a status of a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen. You will have to meet some criteria by demonstrating that your child or grandchild satisfies the criterion of minimum income threshold.

Super Visa Overview

Super Visa enjoys extensive popularity among aspiring immigrants because of faster processing times, a simple application process, and consistently high approval rates. It allows applicants to visit their families anytime for a maximum period of two years. The Super Visa has a validity period of ten years.

The grandchildren and children can be eligible sponsors of the Super Visa program for their parents and grandparents. The sponsor should be:

  • A Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
  • 18 years of age and above
  • A permanent resident or a Canadian citizen
  • Able to provide an undertaking to support parents or grandparents during the stay in Canada
  • Fulfilling the Minimum Necessary Income criteria by providing pay stubs or notices of assessment
  • Able to repay provincial social assistance benefits

You will find that the conditions relating to financial criteria are flexible as the income level can be thirty percent less than PR sponsorship

Factors to consider before applying for Super Visa

One needs to consider some crucial factors essential for assessing Super Visa applications. These are:

  • Medical examination
  • Probability of returning to home country
  • Details of financial assets, property, and relations in the home country
  • The intention of visiting Canada

Super Visa Application

Parents and grandparents of children and grandchildren living in Canada can apply for the Super Visa program. Dependants are not eligible to apply for the Super Visa program. Super Visa applicants may include their spouses or common-law partners while applying for the program. Following are a few criteria to note before applying for the Super Visa program:

  • Applicants should provide an invitation letter from the child or grandchild mentioning address and names of parents, length, and purpose of visit, and details of accommodation in Canada.
  • Proof to establish parental relation by way of a birth certificate indicating names of parents or grandparents
  • Proof to demonstrate Minimum Income Threshold
  • Undertaking by the child or grandchild confirming that the expenses of parents or grandparents will be taken care of by them throughout the duration of Super Visa
  • Parents or grandparents should have medical insurance coverage for a minimum of one year.
  • Establish genuine intentions of applicants to visit Canada and confirm that they will leave Canada before the expiry of the Super Visa

Extending Super Visa

The validity period of Super Visa is for two years. Parents and grandparents can consider extending the Super Visa by applying thirty days before the expiration of the Super Visa. You may stay beyond the date of expiry of Super Visa if your application for extension is under process.

There are several influencing factors for the approval of extending a Super Visa. Your health condition, the home country, and funds status are some factors that may impact the final approval. However, there are good chances of approval as approximately 83 percent of such applications get approved.

There are complex requirements for a Super Visa. Hiring an expert immigration consultant can minimize application errors and the possibility of rejecting your Super Visa application.
