Ontario Provincial Nominee Program

Ontario Provincial Nominee Program

Ontario Provincial Nominee Program

Ontario is a central province in Canada. It is the top priority destination for most immigrants. Ontario is popular among immigrants because of diverse job opportunities and a large proportion of the immigrant population. It comprises Toronto, Canada’s commercial hub, and Ottawa, the capital city of Canada.

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) allows eligible immigrants to secure the provincial nomination and obtain a permanent resident status through Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Expert immigration professionals can help you select the appropriate immigration stream of OINP.

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) began with an upper limit of 1000 immigrants to nominate a year. Presently, the number has risen to a whopping 8000 nominees. The program aims to facilitate the smooth integration of newcomers with the province. Newcomers can expect a hassle-free process to explore job opportunities and settle in Ontario by leveraging OINP.

The enhanced stream of the Ontario nominee program aligns with the federal Express Entry System to award the applicant with a point score. Candidates can choose base streams to apply directly to IRCC after qualifying for provincial nomination. The following are the three main categories of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program:

  • Ontario Employer job offer
  • Ontario Human capital stream
  • Ontario Business Stream

Prospective immigrants who wish to apply for permanent residence through these programs must complete federal checks, police clearance, biometrics, and security checks to qualify for Ontario INP.

Ontario Employer job offer

Applicants with a valid full-time and permanent job offer from an Ontario employer should consider this stream of Ontario INP. It aims at keeping students and skilled workers in the province. The following are the three sub-categories of the Ontario Employer job offer:

  • International Student Stream– Foreign students with a full-time job offer from an Ontario employer can apply through this Ontario INP sub-category.
  • In-demand Skills Stream– Foreign semi-skilled workers can immigrate to Ontario by choosing a job as per the in-demand jobs list of the province.
  • Foreign worker stream– Highly skilled workers can apply through this stream for a permanent residence, provided they have a valid job offer from an Ontario employer.

Ontario Human capital stream

The Human Capital category operates on various provincial and federal criteria. The applicant must fulfill these to qualify for the Ontario Human Capital stream. The applicant should have an Express Entry profile and be part of the Federal Express Entry pool. These candidates should be eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker Program or Canadian Experience Class.

Ontario accesses the Express Entry draw to find eligible candidates from in-demand occupations. The potential applicants for the Ontario Human Capital stream should have relevant experience in the in-demand occupation such as:

  • Computer programmers
  • Data analysts and data administrators
  • Software engineers and designers
  • Computer and information systems managers
  • Web developers and designers

Ontario Business Stream

The Ontario Business Stream helps applicants who desire to start or buy a business in Ontario. The category offers Entrepreneur Stream with the following eligibility criteria:

  • A business experience of two years in the last five years
  • Should have a minimum of one-third of the business under control
  • Ready to invest a minimum of $ 600,000
  • The business must result in the creation of a minimum of two job positions

The candidate should submit an Expression of Interest by accessing the portal of Ontario INP. The application will be subject to ranking with other applicants in the pool. The top-ranking applicants should apply through the e-filing portal of Ontario INP.
