Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia announced the details of study permit quotas to welcome international students in 2024.
Prince Edward Island
According to an announcement by Prince Edward Island, the province plans to issue 2,000 study permits to international students. The allocation of these permits is:
University of Prince Edward Island- 1185
Holland College- 710
College de l’Ile- 105
Canada mandates a Provincial Attestation Letter along with the federal study permit application. International students planning to study in Prince Edward Island will receive Provincial Attestation Letters from the Designated Learning Institutions.
Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia received the allocation for 12,900 study permits from the federal government for 2024. The current year’s allocation is much less than the previous year. The province is home to nearly 16,000 international students pursuing full-time study programs.
The following is the current year’s study permit allocation:
Nova Scotia Community College and universities in the province- 11,565
Private career college- 710
Language schools- 526
The province will reserve 99 study permit application spaces for unforeseen circumstances. Canada reduced the number of study permit spaces as part of its policy to streamline the number of temporary permit holders. The country will approve 35 percent fewer study permit applications than the previous year.
