Ontario PNP Draw Sees CRS Drop to 290 for French-Speaking Skilled Workers

September 9, 2024

In a recent draw, Ontario has issued 86 invitations to French-speaking candidates through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The draw, held on September 5, targeted candidates in the Express Entry system’s French-Speaking Skilled Worker (FSSW) stream.

Candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores between 290 and 393 were invited. This marks one of the lowest CRS scores seen in recent draws.

The draw considered profiles created in the Express Entry system between September 5, 2023, and September 5, 2024. Unlike previous draws, this one did not target specific occupations but focused on the general pool of French-speaking skilled workers.

To qualify for the FSSW stream, applicants must meet certain criteria. They must have work experience in the Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities (TEER) Categories 0, 1, 2, or 3 of the National Occupational Classification (NOC). Additionally, candidates must hold a Canadian equivalent of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree.

Language proficiency is a key requirement for this stream. Applicants must have a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 7 in French and at least CLB 6 in English. These language benchmarks are typically achieved through the TEF exam for French and the IELTS exam for English.

The draw reflects Ontario’s continued efforts to attract French-speaking skilled workers to help meet the province’s labor market needs. It also supports the growth and vitality of Ontario’s Francophone communities.

To be eligible, candidates must also demonstrate their intention to reside in Ontario and have at least one year of full-time work experience in the NOC TEER Categories.
