Ontario has conducted a new draw through its Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream, issuing 209 invitations to general practitioners and family physicians. This draw, part of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), took place on July 25. It targeted candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores between 395 and 444.
The selected candidates received a Notification of Interest through their Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) account. They have 45 days to submit a full application.
To qualify, applicants must meet many criteria.
They must have an ongoing profile under the Federal Express Entry system and qualify for either the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) or the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
They must also have at least one year of full-time or equivalent work experience under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER Category 0, 1, 2, or 3. This experience must have been gained in the past five years for FSWP applicants or in the past three years for CEC applicants.
Candidates must also hold the equivalent of a Canadian bachelor’s degree or higher. Language proficiency is another requirement, with a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) level 7 in English or French. They must intend to reside in Ontario and, if applicable, have legal status in Canada.
Applicants also need to provide proof of required settlement funds. Their Express Entry, Comprehensive Ranking System score, must meet the minimum determined by the director in periodic draws.
This draw is part of Ontario’s ongoing efforts to address labor shortages in the healthcare sector. Ontario aims to attract skilled professionals to meet the province’s healthcare needs by targeting general practitioners and family physicians.
