Canada has conducted a new Express Entry draw, issuing 1,613 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates on October 7, 2024.
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for this draw was 743 points, marking an increase of 11 points compared to the previous PNP draw held on September 9. In that earlier draw, Canada issued 911 ITAs.
The October 7 draw followed a Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw held on September 19, where 4,000 ITAs were issued with a minimum CRS score of 509. This year, Canada has held a variety of targeted and general draws, including those focused on specific occupations and language skills.
In 2024, Canada conducted nine all-program draws, eight French-language targeted draws, and several other specialized draws, including those aimed at healthcare, agriculture, and trade occupations. This year also saw eight PNP-specific draws and six Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draws.
Canada’s immigration targets have continued to grow compared to 2023, which saw 110,266 ITAs issued across various categories. The country aims to surpass its 2023 target of 465,000 new permanent residents by setting an ambitious goal of 485,000 for 2024.
This latest draw marks the 38th round of invitations under Express Entry in 2024 and the 316th overall since the program’s inception. Candidates who received an invitation now have 60 days to submit their applications, which are typically processed within a six-month window.
Employers looking to recruit foreign workers are advised to consider securing a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or a provincial nomination to support long-term employee retention. Candidates seeking to improve their chances of receiving an ITA are encouraged to secure a valid job offer.
