Canada has issued 500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in a new Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Express Entry draw held on October 9, 2024. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for this draw was 539, marking an increase of 30 points compared to the previous CEC draw on September 19, which saw 4,000 ITAs issued.
This latest draw follows the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw conducted on October 7, in which 1,613 ITAs were issued with a minimum CRS score of 743.
Throughout 2024, Canada has conducted various Express Entry draws, including all-program draws and targeted draws for specific occupations such as healthcare, agriculture, and STEM. The draws focus on French-speaking candidates. There have been nine all-program draws, eight PNP draws, and seven CEC draws so far this year.
Canada’s immigration targets for 2024 are set at 485,000 new permanent residents, surpassing the 465,000 target for 2023.
In previous years, Canada issued 110,266 ITAs in 2023 and a record 114,431 ITAs in 2021. The country continues to expand its immigration programs to meet growing demands for skilled labor and economic development.
The October 9 draw was the 39th round of invitations under Express Entry in 2024 and the 317th overall.
Candidates who received an invitation have 60 days to submit their applications for permanent residency. Processing times for these applications typically adhere to a six-month standard.
Employers are encouraged to secure Labor Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs) or nominations under provincial programs to facilitate the long-term retention of foreign workers. Candidates are advised to obtain valid job offers to increase their chances of receiving an ITA in future draws.
