Canada Issues 1,000 ITAs in New French Proficiency Express Entry Draw

October 12, 2024

Canada has conducted a new Express Entry draw on October 10, 2024, issuing 1,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates demonstrating French language proficiency.

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for this draw was 444, two points lower than the previous French language draw held on September 13, where the same number of ITAs were issued.

The most recent draw follows the Canadian Experience Class draw conducted on October 9, which invited 500 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 539.

In 2024, Canada conducted various types of Express Entry draws, including nine all-program draws. Nine draws were targeted at French-speaking candidates—one draw each was held for transport jobs, agriculture and agri-food occupations, and STEM occupations.

Two draws targeted healthcare occupations, while eight Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws and seven Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draws were conducted. One draw also focused on trade occupations.

In 2023, Canada issued 110,266 ITAs after inviting 45,115 candidates the previous year. A record 114,431 ITAs were issued in 2021, surpassing the previous record of 107,350 set in 2020.

The immigration target for 2023 was set at 465,000, which is expected to be exceeded in 2024, with a new target of 485,000 permanent residency invitations.

The tie-breaking rule for this draw was set for September 27, 2024, at 2:56 PM EST. If multiple candidates had the minimum CRS score, only those who submitted their profiles before this date and time received invitations.

This was the 40th Express Entry round of 2024 and the 318th overall. Candidates have 60 days to submit their applications, typically processed within six months. Employers are encouraged to use LMIAs or provincial nominations to retain employees long-term.
