In a recent Express Entry draw, Canada issued 400 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) specifically for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) applicants. Held on November 13, this round saw a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 547 points, reflecting an increase of eight points compared to the previous CEC draw on October 22. Both rounds targeted 400 applicants.
Just a day before, on November 12, Canada conducted a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw, issuing 733 ITAs with a considerably higher CRS cutoff of 812 points. These targeted and specialized draws reflect the country’s broad commitment to attracting skilled immigrants across diverse sectors. So far in 2024, Canada has held various Express Entry draws, targeting candidates in fields like healthcare, agriculture, transport, STEM, and trades and those proficient in French.
Notably, nine all-program draws and 11 focused on provincial nominees this year, with nine draws specifically for CEC applicants.
In 2023, Canada issued 110,266 ITAs, up from 45,115 ITAs in 2022, demonstrating a strong upward trend in immigration. The record-setting trend follows the issuing of 114,431 ITAs in 2021, which marked a high point for invitations under the CEC and PNP categories.
Canada’s expanding immigration targets – from 465,000 in 2023 to a projected 485,000 in 2024 – indicate ongoing efforts to address workforce needs and support economic growth.
The latest draw also applied a tie-breaking rule from April 10, 2024, which affected candidates with the minimum CRS score who submitted profiles before this date. Successful candidates have 60 days to submit their applications, with standard processing timelines averaging six months.
