Canada issued 3,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in an Express Entry draw targeting healthcare occupation on November 20. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required was 463, 18 points higher than the previous healthcare-specific draw held in July, which invited 3,750 candidates.
The latest draw followed a Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw on November 19. That draw issued 400 ITAs with a minimum CRS score of 539.
In 2024, Canada has conducted several types of Express Entry draws, including nine all-program draws, ten targeting French speakers, and others focused on specific occupations such as healthcare, STEM, transportation, and agriculture.
12 draws targeted candidates through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), and 10 were for Canadian Experience Class candidates.
In 2023, 110,266 ITAs were issued, a significant increase from 45,115 in 2022. The record was set in 2021, with 114,431 ITAs issued, primarily targeting Canadian Experience Class and PNP candidates. The Express Entry system has facilitated Canada’s ambitious immigration targets, which have increased from 465,000 in 2023 to 485,000 in 2024.
The tie-breaking rule for the latest draw applied to candidates who submitted their profiles before October 21, 2024, at 12:12 PM EST. Those with a CRS score of 463 who met this condition received invitations.
Applicants must submit their applications within 60 days, and standard processing times are six months. Immigration authorities recommend that employers secure an LMIA or a provincial nomination to enhance the long-term retention of employees and improve candidates’ chances of receiving an ITA.
This draw marked the 49th round of invitations under Express Entry in 2024 and the 327th overall.
