Canada’s latest Express Entry draw, held on July 18, 2024, has issued 1,800 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residency. This draw was targeted at candidates with French language proficiency.
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required was 400 points. This is a significant decrease from the previous French-language draw held on July 8, 2024, which had a minimum CRS score of 420 and issued 3,200 ITAs.
The July 17, 2024 draw was a Canadian Experience Class draw. It issued 6,300 ITAs with a higher minimum CRS score of 515.
This year has seen various draws, including nine all-program draws, six targeted at French speakers, and draws focusing on specific occupations such as transport jobs, agriculture, agri-food, healthcare, and STEM.
There have also been four Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws and two Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draws.
In comparison, last year’s draws included 19 all-program draws, five PNP draws and several targeted draws similar to this year’s.
Canada issued 110,266 ITAs in 2023, substantially increasing from the 45,115 issued in 2022. The number of ITAs issued in 2021 was 114,431, primarily to Canadian Experience Class and PNP candidates.
Canada has set a record immigration target of 465,000 for 2023 and aims to surpass it with a target of 485,000 permanent residency invites in 2024.
The tie-breaking rule for the most recent draw was implemented on March 8, 2024. Candidates who had submitted their Express Entry profiles before this time and met the minimum CRS score received invitations.
Candidates now have 60 days to submit their applications, which will be processed within the standard six-month timeframe. Employers must secure Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs) or provincial nominations to enhance their chances of retaining employees and ensuring successful future draws.
