British Columbia recently conducted a new draw through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) on August 7, 2024. At least 145 invitations to apply were issued across various categories. The draw was divided into general and targeted streams to meet specific labor market needs in the province.
In the general draw, candidates in the Skilled Worker category needed a minimum score of 132 points. This requirement resulted in 59 invitations. The same score applied to other categories, such as Skilled Worker – Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC), International Graduate, and International Graduate – EEBC.
However, Entry Level and Semi-Skilled candidates faced a lower threshold of 110 points. This indicated a less competitive requirement for these applicants.
On the same day, a targeted draw focused on specific labor market demands in British Columbia.
Different sectors had varying minimum scores and invitation numbers, echoing the province’s specific needs. The childcare sector required a minimum score of 88 points and issued 32 invitations. The construction industry needed a minimum score of 90 points, resulting in 29 invitations.
Healthcare professionals had a higher minimum score of 101 points, which led to 24 invitations being issued, showing the critical demand for healthcare workers in the province. The veterinary care category had the lowest minimum score of 80 points, with fewer than five invitations issued. This indicated a highly targeted need for professionals in this specialized field.
This draw highlights British Columbia’s commitment to addressing labor shortages while attracting skilled immigrants through the BC PNP.
