The requirements for the new provincial immigration pathway of Alberta Tourism and Hospitality Stream are now available.
The fresh eligibility requirements to become permanent residents through the new Alberta Tourism and Hospitality stream provide more insights about the program. Aspiring immigrants who cannot leverage the Express Entry system because they fall under TEER 4 and 5 National Occupation Classification can benefit from the new stream.
The language proficiency criteria for the Alberta Tourism and Hospitality stream are more lenient. The minimum language proficiency requirement for the program is CLB 4. The equivalent IELTS bands for the language skills are:
Listening – 4.5 bands
Speaking – 4 bands
Writing – 4 bands
Reading – 3.5 bands
The new Alberta Tourism and Hospitality stream requires the applicant to be living in Alberta and mandates:
Valid job offer from an Alberta employer in the tourism and hospitality sector
Valid work permit with positive LMIA approval
Minimum six months of continuous work experience in qualifying occupations
Prospective immigrants willing to leverage the new steam need a minimum of Canadian high school education to qualify. Candidates must provide an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for academic qualification outside Canada.
