Alberta’s Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) issued 41 invitations in a recent draw. The August 27 draw focused on healthcare professionals, offering invitations to candidates in the Express Entry-linked stream who had job offers through the province’s Dedicated Healthcare Pathway.
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for these invitations was 302 points. This draw is part of Alberta’s efforts to address labor shortages in the healthcare sector, aligning with the province’s goal to support its economic development and diversification.
For 2024, Alberta has been allocated 9,750 nomination spots, matching the number from 2023. So far this year, Alberta has issued 7,463 nominations. In 2023, the province exceeded its original allocation, issuing a total of 10,029 nominations, thanks to a federally authorized buffer that allowed them to go beyond their limit.
To qualify for a Notification of Interest (NOI) from Alberta under the Express Entry-linked stream, candidates must maintain an active Express Entry profile and express a desire to live in Alberta permanently.
They must also be engaged in an occupation that supports the province’s economic goals and achieves a CRS score of at least 300.
Certain factors can increase a candidate’s chances of receiving a NOI. These include having a job offer or work experience in Alberta, graduating from a Canadian post-secondary institution, or having close family members living in the province.
Having an Express Entry profile close to expiration or being employed in an ineligible occupation can reduce the chances of receiving an NOI.
