Immigrating to Canada: Best ways for you

If we say Canada is one of the best countries to immigrate to, we mean it. Not only is it one of the most beautiful and safest places to live in but it also provides great opportunities for each, and every class of people be it skilled, semi-skilled or unskilled. In Canada people treat each other with dignity and respect and the government cares for the well-being of its citizens.

Recently Canadian government declared its new immigration targets for the people over next few years. There are a lot of immigration programs for the people, and you need to know about them in detail to understand the requirements for these programs so that you may settle in Canada.

Immigration to Canada in 2021: How to make it happen

Given below is the list of some immigration programs for you to move to Canada. Though there are more than 100 different Canadian visa and immigration programs it is essential to know about some of the best programs for you before applying for permanent residency in Canada. Some of these programs may work wonders for you while others may seem quite simple. It’s up to you to decide which one works for you.

The Express Entry System

This program is quite popular among the immigrants as a large number of people use it for immigrating to Canada. While there were restrictions on travel and immigration after the covid-19 pandemic hit hard, this program still managed to attract more quality skilled workers. Surprisingly the target of 88,500 invitations set after a special review in April was exceeded by Immigration and Refugee Council of Canada (IRCC).

The Express Entry System is an online immigration application program which works on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). If you are a skilled manager, professional, or trades worker with at least one year of experience, you can apply for permanent residency through this system. CRS is basically designed to adjudge the capabilities of a candidate. It is a points-based system in which points are awarded according to various criteria such as language ability, qualifications and work experience.

After assigning the points, candidates are divided into 3 different categories on the basis of CRS:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program: This program is designed for the people with managerial, professional and technical jobs such as doctors, accountants and skilled IT workers.
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program: This program covers candidates who must have at least two years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade such as carpenters, mechanics and plumbers.
  • Canada Experience Class: This program covers candidates who are eligible for either of the first two programs listed above and have at least one year of experience working in Canada. Candidates in this category are given preference in draws over the first two programs.

Two draws take place every month and the candidates with the highest CRS scores in each of the 3 categories are issued ITAs. After submitting the applications completely with all the required supporting documents, they are awarded permanent residency in Canada. To enhance your score, there are various ways. A job offer can boost your CRS score by 50-200 points while a provincial nomination can guarantee you an ITA.

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

There is a specific program for each Canadian province and territory which is called Provincial Nominee Program. This program is for the workers who have the skills, education and work experience to contribute to the economy of a specific province or territory.

Programs are designed to meet the requirements and the economies of every province. The PNP is responsible for Canada’s second-largest addition of immigrants every year. Each province consists of its own streams. How you will apply basically on which stream you’re applying to. You have to understand the skills required for the province which will help you during the application. Search for the occupations which are in demand in each province.

Through Express Entry application you can express your interest in a province you want to settle in or you can directly apply for provincial nomination to that province.

The Rural & Northern Immigration Pilot

Community-driven program Rural & Northern Immigration Pilot is very exciting as it helps to spread the benefits of economic immigration to smaller communities by creating a path to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers. Last year there were some specific communities who were participating in this program but now all the 11 communities have become a part of the RNIP and accepting applicants. Mostly the candidates look for major cities like Toronto and Vancouver, but there are much more opportunities apart from these places. Smaller cities have now also signed up on RNP and are providing job offers to the candidates in their communities as well.

To help smaller communities with aging populations and labour shortages, employers in the participating communities do not require a labour market impact assessment (LMIA), lots of opportunities have opened up to attract and retain new immigrants. To be eligible for RNIP, candidates must accumulate qualifying work experience of at least 1 year of full-time work or have graduated from a two-year program at an institution within the community. You must also fulfill the language and education requirements of the job.

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot helps employers in Atlantic Canada region hire foreign skilled workers who want to immigrate to Canada and international graduates who want to stay in Atlantic Canada after they graduate. The Atlantic region of Canada covers four provinces that include Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland & Labrador.

The AIP, much like the Rural & Northern Immigration Pilot is one of the best immigration programs to Canada because the employers are always attempting to attract the immigrants to the participating provinces in order to gain the benefits of economic migration. You must receive a job offer from a designated employer or graduate from a two-year program within the participating province, you can apply for permanent residency through the AIP.
