The Express Entry immigration system is the most popular path to Canada for skilled foreign workers. In 2021, 108,500 new residents will be welcomed through this pathway alone.

How does it work?

Step 1. Create an Express Entry Profile

Under this step, you need to create an Express Entry Profile which allows you to stand a chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency in Canada. After that you will qualify for one of the Express Entry immigration programs depending on your job type (NOC, A, O or B) and various other criteria such as years of work experience, level of education, and language proficiency:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Federal Trades Work Program
  • Canadian Experience Class

Step 2. Improve your CRS score

Under this step, your profile will be ranked according to Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). After that candidate with the highest scores will be sent ITAs during bi-weekly Express Entry draws. The ideal CRS score is 500 points, and you may be able to achieve it if you:

  • Get a valid job offer in Canada.
  • Increase your level of education.
  • Improve your language proficiency scores in English or French or even both.
  • Gain more work experience; and
  • Achieve a Provincial Nomination
