Canada’s Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 400 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in the latest Express Entry draw for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) category.
The draw, conducted on November 19, 2024, had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 539. This is eight points lower than the November 13 CEC draw, which also issued 400 ITAs.
Before this, IRCC held a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on November 18, 2024. That draw invited 174 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 816.
In 2024, Canada conducted several types of draws under the Express Entry system. These include nine all-program draws, ten draws targeting French speakers, and two focusing on healthcare occupations. Other draws have targeted specific sectors, such as agriculture, transport, and STEM. Additionally, there have been 12 PNP-specific draws and ten for Canadian Experience Class candidates.
2023 IRCC issued 110,266 ITAs, a sharp increase from the 45,115 invitations issued in 2022. The highest record was set in 2021, with 114,431 ITAs issued exclusively to Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominee Program candidates. This surpassed the previous record of 107,350 invitations issued in 2020.
Canada has consistently raised its immigration targets. For 2024, the goal is to issue 485,000 permanent residency invitations, surpassing the 2023 target of 465,000.
The November 19 draw implemented the tie-breaking rule based on submissions made before July 7, 2024. This ensured that candidates with identical CRS scores were ranked by the date and time they submitted their profiles.
Successful candidates now have 60 days to submit their applications for permanent residence. The IRCC aims to process these applications within six months. Securing an approved job offer or provincial nomination can improve a candidate’s chances of receiving an invitation in future draws.
